Dear Brother Knights: Thanks to your support, we had a very busy and successful month of September. Events included or annual Clam Bake, the Tootsie Roll Drive and this year's first Steak Knight. We will continue to offer a full slate of activities throughout the year. I hope you can participate in some of these events and also look forward to seeing you at our next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 6th. Remember, some issues discussed at the meeting that are not covered in detail in the monthly newsletter so please join us the first Tuesday of every month to stay informed.

If you didn't notice, the September newsletter was sent out a little later than usual. One of the items I discussed at our last two meetings was the ongoing cost of our monthly newsletter. Between postage, envelopes and copy fees, the monthly newsletter costs our council over $135 per month to produce, not to mention the effort of several people that routinely help me stuff the letters prior to mailing. This year, I will eliminate the mailing for three monthly newsletters, beginning with the October month-end newsletter. I will continue to write the newsletter each month but instead of mailing it out, I will place a copy on our council website (www.kofc50.com) and leave some copies at the club for those of you that do not have access to a computer. This reduction in newsletter mailings from ten per year to seven will save our council approximately $400.

With this change, the newsletter for the end of October will be posted on the website www.kofc50.com and available at the council but will not be mailed. I will resume mailing of the newsletter at the end of November. In that newsletter I will inform you of the other two months in which the newsletter will not be maild.

Activities:

Clam Bake - This year's Clam Bake was the most successful ever thanks to the efforts of Bro. Mario Cournoyer and his crew. Mario and his kitchen crew did an outstanding job serving over 150 people that attended the event. Many other members and thier families pitched in to make this event a huge success. I would like to also thank Paul Cunningham, Bill Sroka, Joe and Mary Tiroletto, George and Betty Brassard, Bruce Belini, Rick Goulet, Buzz Robinson, Mike Weiss and all of you that helped out and attended this event. GREAT JOB!!

Tootsie Roll Drive - This year's Tootsie Roll Drive was another great success thanks to the oefforts of Bro. Herman Roy. This was Herman's last year as Tootsie Roll Drive Chairman and I thank him for his dedication and commitment to this worthy cause the last several years.

Men's Golf Tournament - The Men's Golf Tournament will be held at Grassmere Golf Course on Sunday, October 21st. Please see the enclosed flyer for more information and sign up at the council if you are interested in playing.

Last Micro Brew Tour - Our last annual micro brew tour will be held on Saturday, November 10th. Sign-up at the council if interested.

Steak Knight - Our next Steak Knight is scheduled for Saturday, November 17th. Tickets are $12 per person.

The Children's Christmas Party is scheduled for Sunday, December 2nd at 1:00 PM. If you are interested in attending, you must sign up at the council and bring a wrapped gift valued at $5-$10 for each child you are bringing. Please only sign up if you can actually attend the party. It is important for us to have the accurate count for this function. Thanks.

Knight Before Christmas Party - SAVE THIS DATE. We are planning our 2nd Knight Before Christmas Party for Saturday, December 8th at 7:00 PM. More information will be provided in future newsletters. We will be running our annual can drive as part of this event.
